Targeting KOLs from the Client’s List
Field Scope International is often asked to undertake respondent recruitment from a client provided list.
The target here were Key Opinion Leaders from the fields of Diabetology and Endocrinology, based in the United Kingdom.
The purpose of the research was the development of a new insulin drug for diabetes. The methodology was phone-to-web.
Our in-house recruitment team contacted the respondents, screened them, sent them questionnaire links to complete and followed up when necessary.
FSI handled the entire process including incentive handling.
The client had total control over the project at every moment. Regular progress reports were provided. We prepared information on completes by respondent ID, as well as incompletes, unavailables, screen-outs, gatekeeper bottlenecks etc.
Fieldwork needed to be completed in 4 weeks and FSI met the deadline with success.

Request a callRecruitment of Patients and Specialist Nurses
Our client wished to better understand certain medical protocols used to treat a specific heart condition (acute coronary syndrome). The goal was to comprehend what kind of support patients received after being discharged and if they felt supported enough.
Thus, we were looking to recruit both nurses (treating the condition) and patients (with the condition) in the UK and Germany.
Upon further examination, we encountered a significant challenge:
How to reach patient respondents who are not a part of any panel because they had undergone a timely treatment program, rather than going through a long-term chronic condition?
Our approach was to recruit the respondents using healthcare referrals. The sample (15 patients and 15 nurses) was drawn from hospitals and rehabilitation centres.
The in-house team contacted the respondents, screened them and provided online questionnaires and follow-up where necessary.
The client was able to finish the project in time and was satisfied with the service FSI provided.

Request a callUX testing of a new product design for the operating theatre enviroment
We thrive in a challenge, and here we had one!
Our respondents were to be drawn from the fields of surgery (general, orthopaedic, trauma, cardiovascular, neurological and gynaecological) and surgical nursing.
Though the respondents were to be recruited from the UK (native English speakers), the actual testing was to take place overseas, in situ. That meant not only did we have to recruit the respondents (with a quite aggressive screening criteria based on demographic responses, experience and physical characteristics), but we also had to arrange transportation and logistics to the venue.
Interviewing during the project was undertaken by a local representative of the client.
Field Scope recruited the respondents which met the client’s screening criteria.

Anonymous DirectorInvestigating the need for business financial funding through private funding schemes
We were asked to recruit top decision makers and high level influencers within businesses, who also held budget-related / financial responsibilities.
Recruitment was organized to quota across various industries – Manufacturing / IT / Fashion / Design / Legal. A sample also needed to be drawn from different company sizes – from small to SME to Corporate, employing 250+ staff.
This was a free find approach. We used our quick responsive B2B respondent panel. In-house recruiters also looked through LinkedIn profiles and performed cold calling based on data mining of contacts that we gathered online from desk research.
The respondents had to use an online board over a 3-day period, undertaking various tasks and assignments. The forum was provided by the client.
Field Scope recruited the respondents, remotely managed participation and completed the fieldwork in 4 weeks.

Request a callITDMs to be recruited for tele-depth interviews on the topic of technology and data security
This seemed like a normal ITDM recruitment project but when the client threw a curve ball and specified that the annual turnover of companies needed to be 10million and above, it became a different story.
The research methodology was straightforward and set as Telephone Depth Interviews but the challenge was getting the right respondent type.
Our well-managed internal IT database came to the rescue in the sense that we were able to snowball from the existing IT panel members who personally referred us to their senior directors. Once again, our panel proved to be useful as we maintain a good relationship with our panelists and keep them engaged with current studies that apply to them.
We managed to wrap up the project in under 4 weeks.

Request a callRecruitment of furniture reseller owners/managing directors for an onsite visit to discuss a new furniture line
Our goal was to recruit owners/managing directors whose job was to oversee and deal with different furniture manufacturers.
The research methodology was Face-to-Face Individual Depth Interviews onsite across the UK.
Field Scope’s team was provided with a list of client’s customers to recruit and interview.
Our in-house moderator had to deal with logistical challenges of delivering the study within a two-week period. Effective coordination between the in-house recruitment team and the in-house moderating team meant we were able to react in real time and deliver 8 – 10 interviews across the UK within a two-week window.

Request a callBusiness owners of small to medium-sized companies to be recruited for an onsite visit to discuss an accounting software
Our goal was to recruit business owners who used various types of accounting software to manage their internal finances.
The research methodology was Face-to-Face Individual Depth Interviews onsite across the UK with 3 – 4 delegates from the client’s team.
Small businesses of fewer than 10 employees were simple to recruit but the challenge was to find business owners of company sizes between 50 – 200 employees.
Faced with aggressive gate keepers and cold calling challenges, this was a task best suited for a senior recruiter. Adopting a creative approach via LinkedIn and pre-recruiting onsite through appointments, this was a challenge overcome by our executive, well-trained recruitment team.

Anonymous DirectorConsumers to be recruited for store visits accompanied by the client’s team with mobile phones as the study topic
The task was to recruit consumers who would be accompanied by 3 clients to visit mobile phone shops and assess shopping habits.
On paper, this seemed easy to execute but when the client chose to carry this out in the centre of London, in the middle of the day, we soon realised that this ‘easy recruiting’ job was in fact ‘not so easy’.
In order to ensure smooth running of the project, one of our in-house project managers ventured out into the field to meet and greet the respondents on the ground and to act as an on-street host while the clients accompanied store visits.
This meant that we were able to overcome any delays in the schedule and succeeded in completing all interviews during the stated timeframe.
Field Scope will go above and beyond to make sure that your project runs smoothly in the field.

Request a callMums and kids recruited for a face-to-face one-to-one studyon the topic of family entertainment
Our goal was to recruit 40 mums and kids to attend a central facility day.
Children needed to be under the age of 16 and had to be screened (parental consent given) before participation. The study ran for 1 week and required extreme attention to detail due to the volume of infant respondents participating.
The drop-out rate is always high on such studies and we had to ensure back-up parents and kids were on standby.
Also, school times were a challenge to get around and we had to organise taxis and transportation where needed in order to achieve the required amount of attendance.
FSI handled the recruiting and provided field support throughout the project.

Request a callUniversity students from specific universities to be recruited for a 10-minute online survey
Students are generally straightforward to recruit but when the client’s brief states that they are to be recruited during the exam term to take part in a 10-minute online survey via iPads, then this becomes a completely different challenge all together.
Once again, the need to think outside the box was mandatory.
We tried Red Bull incentives but soon realised that the young rascals didn’t fancy a set of wings, Snickers bars were just too nutty, free bottles of water were just too boring.
At last, we had a Eureka moment and realised that a free cold beer was just what we needed to get the numbers.
We completed 300 interviews with plenty of time to spare.

Request a callA fast turnaround project with an immediate start
We had to recruit contract customers having a new smartphone. The goal was to research the purchase journey.
The client required regular updates, and in addition to the recruitment screening, we provided photographs of every respondent holding and interacting with the smart phone in situ.
The client conducted the interviews so this was a recruit only project for us.

Request a callFinding new vehicle owners in the super-mini segment
A leading car manufacturer asked us to target respondents who had purchased a new vehicle in the last 12 months.
The aim of the research was to explore features of the new satellite navigation system that was being designed for a specific line of vehicles.
We had a couple of challenges during the recruitment process.
First of all, respondents of this type don’t always sit on panels. So, we approached them via social media, touching base with owner groups.
Our in-house recruiters went through specialized websites where people discussed cars as well as car blogs where people interested in cars went to read the reviews of certain models. For validation purposes, we asked each respondent to provide ownership paperwork.
Other challenges were the sample size and type of survey.
We had to recruit 12 car owners to attend a 3-hour workshop. Obviously, this had to be done during the weekend when people don’t work.
However, nobody is eager to spend their weekend participating in a survey, especially a 3-hour long survey. So we had to offer proper incentives which we did.
FSI managed to overcome these challenges and provide the client with the sufficient number of respondents by the agreed deadline.
