Hiring Caregivers in Malawi

As a Caregiver, your key responsibilities will be:

• Create reports to track the patients’ progress
• Work with other professionals to create treatment plans
• Clean and re-dress wounds if needed
• Measure vital signs
• Monitor changes in behavior and progress
• Keeping nursing supplies stocked
• Remain knowledgeable about healthcare best practices

Candidate requirements and skills:

• No medical background needed but is considered an advantage
• Ability to work independently combined with excellent interpersonal skills
• Pleasant and trustworthy with the ability to follow protocol and instructions
• Observation skills and attention to detail – must prepare a working plan for everyday activities
• Flexibility, patience, and compassionate
• Emotional stability and physical strength

Candidates with the following attributes do well in this field:

• Those that show care towards sick people
• Feels satisfaction helping someone do something they cannot do on their own
• Treats patients like how they would be like to be treated if they were sick
• Good at time management
• Does not mind cleaning up poop, pee, vomit, and blood
• Feels satisfaction after giving a patient a bath, shampoo, shave, and linen change
• Knows how to be empathic with patients and their families
• Has a positive and upbeat personality
